Technical Difficulties….

My computer is experiencing some major hardware issues that will very likely not be resolved until the weekend (Feb. 13 or 14).  So…the next chapter will be delayed, unfortunately.  It was already a bit delayed because I had to play up to a certain point to make the France visit work well, but I had planned to start shooting pics either today or tomorrow.  In any case, my files are backed up on an external hard drive, so the chances of losing my characters is slim, though I may have to play up to the progress point again. *SIGH*  Anyway, I’m sorry for the inconvenience, and I’ll try to update as soon as I can.

  1. I hope your computer gets fixed soon, Rachel 🙂

Weird theory…could the sims be messing up our computers? There have been a lot of legacy writers these past few weeks who have had computer issues/crashes. Rad, Moondaisy, Sarah, you….I think there are more that I’m forgetting. My computer hasn’t crashed yet, but it has been acting strange post-sims 3. Sometimes my computer will boot up and say that it can’t find the hard drive (scares me every time) but after multiple restarts it finally starts up.

    • Nessva: Thank you! I hope it gets fixed soon too…. I noticed the rash of crashes myself, and mentioned it to my husband. He says he isn’t sure, but we did just install Windows 7 on the computer this last weekend, and he thinks that might have more to do with it. Blargh. 😦 I’ll definitely keep everyone posted though, as soon as I have an idea of how quickly things can get back to normal.

      • That’s interesting, nessva! My computer crashed too, but I just thought it was because it has lived a long life -.-
… and because playing the Sims 3 heats up my poor, old computer, more than it can handle, I think.

And don’t worry about us, Rachel! Your story is awesome, and we’re just here to enjoy the show; no inconvenience ^_^

      • Lida: Thank you! I was so excited about the France chapter…I really hope the progress I made can be salvaged (the characters are safe–it’s the progress I made in the play file for the chapter that I’m worried about at this point).

  2. I’m excited for the next update! But take as much time as you need! I just wanted to say, I was looking at the update previous to this one, and I was looking at the first picture, and I was really looking at Ed. I really like the way you made her character look. Like she has that ordinary look about her. Kind of like the already pre-made sims from EA, but she is so beautiful at the same time. Which is unique. I love it. Haha. Anywho, just thought I’d tell you that! =]

    • Amyjobee: Thank you–I wanted her to be pretty, but not exactly…gorgeous. You know? Nothing exotic or sultry about her, really, but more like an open, honest face that is appealing all the same. Something in between a lot of things. I’m glad you like her. 🙂 I’m really not the greatest at making Sims that are interesting to look at–you should see the Sims that Carnaxa and LunarFox make! Gorgeous, but strangely so–with noses that are too large or eyes that are too deep-set, but it all works somehow.

    • Carla: Thank you! I hope so too…the main part of the wait is just because my husband can’t really take care of it for a few days, and neither can I….so we’re stuck with no verdict until the weekend. *sigh* I’m going to use the time to try to catch up and get around to other Sim blogs and maybe to polish up the bit I’ve written for the next update. I also have two chapters’ worth of Prudence updates to post, so at least there’s that (I always play so far ahead).

  3. Oh! That’s such a shame. It does seem to be that a lot of simmers are having problems… however when I installed Windows 7 I too had problems. I hope that you don’t lose the progress in France and I hope that the problem will be resolved soon!

    • Echo: Thank you! I’m hoping for the best outcome myself…..I really hate to lose so much time on it (though it should be easier this time, should I have to go through it again).
