About

Hi! Welcome to my Sims Stories blog! My name is Rachel, and I enjoy playing the Sims 3. I am trying to craft some interesting and fun stories by using images taken during Sims 3 gameplay. It is extremely challenging and time-consuming, because a lot of it has to be staged. This is the first time I’ve tried to do a story blog with a planned-out story, so bear with me while I get the hang of this. I will try to keep this blog updated, but once again–it takes a lot of time to get even a few pictures and text together. I hope you like my stories, and if you see this, thanks for stopping by!

  1. I can’t find chapters 6-10. I am left hanging on the edge of the cliff about the note to meet in the graveyard!! Help!

  2. I think you’ve got the hang of it! I’ve been rereading the other stories. I can’t wait for the start of Story 3! πŸ™‚

    • Jules: Thank you! I’m so lucky that WordPress makes blogging so easy! It didn’t take long for me to get the site set up and organized… πŸ™‚ I hope to begin story 3 very soon. I’ve written some of it already….but I’ll need to finish it and take some pictures!

  4. Hi! I really like this story, and i just caught up! I was just wondering, how do you actually post pics on wordpress? Because i fail and all the best blogs/stories ect are on wordpress. =)

    • Thanks! I’m glad you like my story. The way I post pics is to go into the Dashboard section of my blog, and on the left you’ll see the option for “Posts”. Once you select “Add New” and the post space comes up, you’ll see “Upload/Insert” just above the space where you’d type your post. You should see some icons to the right of that phrase, and the first one is a little rectangle that says “Add Image” when you hover over it. If you click on it, the menu to upload pics will come up and you can select the pictures you want to use, as well as their size and orientation. You have to be careful about the size, though, because some WordPress layouts don’t support larger images, and your image will be cut off if you leave it full size.

      • I barely remember asking that! Thanks for responding! As it happens, I have started writing on wordy now. Well, by started I mean I’ve written exactly one thing technically speaking and a moddeling entry. But ignoring that, Im wondering how you get the ‘Read the rest of this entry Β»’ things?

WordPress just manages to confuse the whatsits out of me!

      • SugarCookie: You get that by putting in a “more” tag, which I think you won’t be able to select unless you switch views to the HTML editor when you’re making a post. The default in WordPress is usually the Visual Editor, which is nice for people who aren’t really savvy when it comes to HTML (like me). But if you switch to the HTML editor and find the portion you’d like the “Read the rest of this entry” thing to follow, you can click on that area and click on “more” and it should put in a tag that will allow readers to click on it to read the rest of it, while leaving a smidgen of it on the main page so that you aren’t really spoiling anything for new readers who stumble on your page.

  5. wow!! you do have a good blog here. i find the pictures beautiful and amazing, though i haven’t read any of the stories, i am planning to do so later. πŸ˜€

i do write stories too of my sims, but its basically just what happened to them and not based on pre-mades.

    • Anne2ken: Thank you, I’m glad you like it. Only two of the Sims in this particular series are pre-mades, I think…Connor Frio and Thornton Wolff. The rest are characters I created.

  6. cant get enough of this series! also, just wondering… how do you get the picture from the sims available to post on wordpress? i can’t seem to find a way to do it

    • Raymondsanti: Thank you! Do you mean how do you get pictures from the Sims, or how do you post the pictures you do have to wordpress? I’ll answer both just to be safe. I take pictures using the in-game camera, and I find the pictures I take in the Screenshots folder that is nested in the Sims 3 folder. For me the trail is My Documents –> EA Games –> Sims 3 –> Screenshots. I just copy and paste or cut and paste all of the pictures in that folder to a thumb drive and edit the photos on my laptop.

To get the pictures posted on WordPress, I start a new post (Post –> New Post), then along the top of the buttons that you can select from to change the way the text looks, you’ll see several icons. One of those icons (I think it is the first) is for media to store in a gallery contained in your wordpress account. I select the picture(s) I want, then start inserting them into the post at appropriate intervals.

Is that clear? If you still have questions, please don’t hesitate to ask. πŸ™‚

      • Thanks! That helped me a lot, I was having trouble finding the folder all the pics went into. I don’t have any more questions as of now, but if I come across something I’ll probably ask. Thanks again! πŸ™‚

      • Have you ever had the problem that the pics are the wrong… uh…. .jpg, .bmp, thing? (no idea what they’re called) And do you know how to convert them if so?

Sorry for all the questions but I’m still trying to get the hang of blogging.

      • Raymondsanti: I think the pictures default to jpg, which I’m fine with using. I think you can convert them to other formats by opening them with MS Paint or by in a photo editing program (I use Photoshop, but a lot of Simmers use a free program called GIMP), then saving them in a different format (you might be able to select different formats by using the pull down menus when the save dialog box comes up).

      • Thanks so much! I appreciate all the time you take to give me such detailed answers.

    • Cec: Hi there! Thank you very much, I’m very glad you like my scribblings. If you mean when will I get around to continuing these stories, well, I hope to get the next chapter out in a week or so. I am unfortunately pretty busy since I started taking an online course, and that has cut into my free time considerably. I have every intention of continuing this story, however, and I hope to do so soon. The previous stories are all still located on this site, and you can find them under the Table of Contents tab. Thank you so much for reading and commenting!

      • I’m sorry if I came off a little rude I hadn’t realized that you had updated recently. I really didn’t mean that. But I do love your stories, especially everything between Ed and Sean. πŸ™‚

  8. Oh, nice, mystery stories! That’s my sort of thing right here!!
I saved your blog and will binge read during the christmas break. I saw you have a lot of finished stories, so I look forward to reading them.

I totally understand what you said about the screenshots. Sometimes i took 5-6 hours to stage the pictures i wanted to post in my story, because the simmies just wouldn’t co-operate, or the pose list was absolutely enormous in size πŸ˜€

    • Niura: Thank you! I am glad you like mystery stories and I hope you enjoy the pictures. Staging the pictures takes such a while, but I do love the things you can do with pictures to complement the story.

    • Livinasimminlife: Thank you so much for the nomination! I wish I could accept, but as I explained in response to another simmer who kindly nominated me, I am not as active in the Sims community and a lot of the stories I would recommend are either discontinued or the Simmer is no longer active in the community and couldn’t recommend people, etc. Just the fact that it took me until August to respond shows that I shouldn’t accept this award. I hope, one day, to be able to read the blogs of fellow Simmers again, but right now I am a deplorable member of the Sims writing community. Thank you, so much, though, for the nomination.

    • Thewindsorlegacy: Aww, thank you. If I responded to comments in a timely manner, then you would see that I had been nominated–but I cannot accept. I am so bad about responding and posting that I feel bad accepting the award, and most of the stories that I used to read regularly are from Simmers who have either discontinued the stories or aren’t as active in the community anymore either. I wish I were more active–it’s just so hard to find the time these days. I hope to get back to reading Sim blogs one day. Thank you so much for nominating me–it is an honor.
