SATURDAY MORNING, 10:45 AM

By the time we were crossing the river and driving into downtown Bridgeview, I was antsy and failing miserably in the task of not getting my hopes up. There was a Jennifer Smith living in the city and I knew that she might be the one who knew my brother in college. Sean and Nick had both cautioned me to maintain perspective and to keep my expectations in check.
Nick had managed to whittle the list down to three by Friday night, and today we were checking out this one while he handled the other two. This one hadn’t answered her phone or responded to Nick’s messages. He hadn’t told her why he was calling, so we weren’t sure why she wasn’t returning his calls.
