Rachel's Sims Stories

My Sims 3 storytelling blog

About

Hi! Welcome to my Sims Stories blog! My name is Rachel, and I enjoy playing the Sims 3. I am trying to craft some interesting and fun stories by using images taken during Sims 3 gameplay. It is extremely challenging and time-consuming, because a lot of it has to be staged. This is the first time I’ve tried to do a story blog with a planned-out story, so bear with me while I get the hang of this. I will try to keep this blog updated, but once again–it takes a lot of time to get even a few pictures and text together. I hope you like my stories, and if you see this, thanks for stopping by!

I think you’ve got the hang of it! I’ve been rereading the other stories. I can’t wait for the start of Story 3! :-)

Jules: Thank you! I’m so lucky that WordPress makes blogging so easy! It didn’t take long for me to get the site set up and organized… :) I hope to begin story 3 very soon. I’ve written some of it already….but I’ll need to finish it and take some pictures!

Hi! I really like this story, and i just caught up! I was just wondering, how do you actually post pics on wordpress? Because i fail and all the best blogs/stories ect are on wordpress. =)

Thanks! I’m glad you like my story. The way I post pics is to go into the Dashboard section of my blog, and on the left you’ll see the option for “Posts”. Once you select “Add New” and the post space comes up, you’ll see “Upload/Insert” just above the space where you’d type your post. You should see some icons to the right of that phrase, and the first one is a little rectangle that says “Add Image” when you hover over it. If you click on it, the menu to upload pics will come up and you can select the pictures you want to use, as well as their size and orientation. You have to be careful about the size, though, because some WordPress layouts don’t support larger images, and your image will be cut off if you leave it full size.

      • I barely remember asking that! Thanks for responding! As it happens, I have started writing on wordy now. Well, by started I mean I’ve written exactly one thing technically speaking and a moddeling entry. But ignoring that, Im wondering how you get the ‘Read the rest of this entry »’ things?

WordPress just manages to confuse the whatsits out of me!

SugarCookie: You get that by putting in a “more” tag, which I think you won’t be able to select unless you switch views to the HTML editor when you’re making a post. The default in WordPress is usually the Visual Editor, which is nice for people who aren’t really savvy when it comes to HTML (like me). But if you switch to the HTML editor and find the portion you’d like the “Read the rest of this entry” thing to follow, you can click on that area and click on “more” and it should put in a tag that will allow readers to click on it to read the rest of it, while leaving a smidgen of it on the main page so that you aren’t really spoiling anything for new readers who stumble on your page.

      • Thank you soooo much! =D

wow!! you do have a good blog here. i find the pictures beautiful and amazing, though i haven’t read any of the stories, i am planning to do so later. :D

i do write stories too of my sims, but its basically just what happened to them and not based on pre-mades.

Anne2ken: Thank you, I’m glad you like it. Only two of the Sims in this particular series are pre-mades, I think…Connor Frio and Thornton Wolff. The rest are characters I created.

  7. cant get enough of this series! also, just wondering… how do you get the picture from the sims available to post on wordpress? i can’t seem to find a way to do it

Raymondsanti: Thank you! Do you mean how do you get pictures from the Sims, or how do you post the pictures you do have to wordpress? I’ll answer both just to be safe. I take pictures using the in-game camera, and I find the pictures I take in the Screenshots folder that is nested in the Sims 3 folder. For me the trail is My Documents –> EA Games –> Sims 3 –> Screenshots. I just copy and paste or cut and paste all of the pictures in that folder to a thumb drive and edit the photos on my laptop.

To get the pictures posted on WordPress, I start a new post (Post –> New Post), then along the top of the buttons that you can select from to change the way the text looks, you’ll see several icons. One of those icons (I think it is the first) is for media to store in a gallery contained in your wordpress account. I select the picture(s) I want, then start inserting them into the post at appropriate intervals.

Is that clear? If you still have questions, please don’t hesitate to ask. :)

      • Thanks! That helped me a lot, I was having trouble finding the folder all the pics went into. I don’t have any more questions as of now, but if I come across something I’ll probably ask. Thanks again! :)

      • Have you ever had the problem that the pics are the wrong… uh…. .jpg, .bmp, thing? (no idea what they’re called) And do you know how to convert them if so?

Sorry for all the questions but I’m still trying to get the hang of blogging.

      • raquelaroden said

Raymondsanti: I think the pictures default to jpg, which I’m fine with using. I think you can convert them to other formats by opening them with MS Paint or by in a photo editing program (I use Photoshop, but a lot of Simmers use a free program called GIMP), then saving them in a different format (you might be able to select different formats by using the pull down menus when the save dialog box comes up).

      • Thanks so much! I appreciate all the time you take to give me such detailed answers.

Raymondsanti: No problem! I’m glad you find my answers helpful!
